  "Walk 4 Matt"

Matt Hampson is a young rugby player, whose career was brought to an abrupt end when he broke his neck during a match. He was told he would never walk again!

A trust fund has been set up to raise funds in the hope that stem-cell technology may help him, and others like him.

This year's sponsored walk, organised by the Trust and backed by the Rugby Premiership, will see walkers go from Coventry to Twickenham for the Premiership final, raising money for the Trust and for the individual charities of the Premiership clubs. The route is via the canal towpath, with narrowboats as "support vehicles".

During our holiday, we have been privileged to be part of this event by "buddying" with one of the support boats through the locks around Berkhamstead for a morning.

We would like to add our congratulations and support to the organisers, sponsors, support staff, and in particular the "walkers". Special mention (from us) goes to Tony and Mick from "Charnwood", "Captain Sue", Emily and Bethan.
